Please note: Foals should be shown with mares in appropriate classes. All foals to be led with a head collar. Plaiting permitted at owner’s discretion.
ALL ENTRIES OF THIS SECTION MUST HAVE IDENTIFICATION CERTIFICATES AND PASSPORTS AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION.

CLASS 22: MINIATURE HORSE / PONY SHOWN IN HAND 1st €60, 2nd €40, 3rd €30, 4th €20 CLASS 23: THE OUGHTERARD SHOW PRESENTS THE QUALIFER FOR THE GALWAY REGION IRISH DRAUGHT MARE AND FOAL CHAMPIONSHIP.

Entries confined to registered Irish Draught Mares with Foal at foot by an approved Irish Draught Stallion, judged as a unit 50/50 confined to breeders from the Galway Region. 2. Two Mares will be selected from each qualifier, a third maybe selected if the standard is high enough. 3. Passports must be produced at qualifying show and the final. All qualifying horses must have passport details and IDBHA membership numbers where it applies included on qualifying cards to be given at the qualifying show. 4. Foals must be led at all times. 5. Entry fee to final to be paid at qualifying show.

All competitors who attend €30 (who are not in the top six) CLASS 24: 2 & 3 YEAR OLD ID FILLY OR GELDING PROGENY OF RID MARE & RID STALLION. CLASS 25: REG IRISH DRAUGHT MARE (OPEN) 4 yrs old or over. Reg. Number must be stated on entry forms and owners must produce passports on show day. This class is also confined to Oughterard, Killannin, & Moycullen Parishes. CLASS 26:REGISTERED IRISH DRAUGHT FOAL PROGENY OF RID MARE & RID STALLION passport & Reg No must be produced for inspection. Winner to qualify for Western Region Reg Irish Draught Foal C’hip. CLASS 27: 2 YEAR OLD FILLY OR GELDING CALCULATED TO MAKE A HUNTER. Registered with the IHR. Reg. Number must be stated on entry forms and owners must produce passports on show day. CLASS 28: REGISTERED BROOD MARE 4 YEARS OLD AND OVER. Registered with the IHR. Reg. Number must be stated on entry forms and owners must produce passports on show day. CLASS 29: FOAL - FILLY OR COLT Registered with the IHR. Reg. Number must be stated on entry forms and owners must produce passports on show day. CLASS 30: MARE & FOAL UNIT for mares registered with the IHR. Reg. Number must be stated on entry forms and owners must produce passports on show day. R.I.D mares and foal eligible.

1. This championship is confined to Irish Draught Foals, the progeny of a Registered Irish Draught Mare and a Registered Irish Draught Stallion. 2. The competition is open to either Colt of Filly Foals. 3. One qualifier per show or two qualifiers at the judge’s discretion. 4. On completion of judging, Stewards must inform the successful competitor to visit the secretary’s office at the qualifying show within one hour and complete the necessary arrangements for entry to the final. 5. Show Secretaries must forward completed result cards, together with appropriate fee to the Oughterard Show Secretary within 3 days of holding the qualifying class. 6. Winners of Qualifiers are themselves responsible for entering their qualifier (or exhibit) for the final, within one hour after the time of qualifying. 7. Passports and progeny cards will be checked at the final. 8. The Oughterard Show in consultation with the sponsor reserve the right to amend the rules as may be necessary. It is envisaged that this competition will give a new impetus to Irish Draught breeding and encourage farmers to produce quality Irish Draught stock on western farms.
