Judging commences at 9.00am. Classes may be divided into 2 rings.
CLASS 35: THE IRISH SHOWS ASSOCIATION & THE OUGHTERARD SHOW SOCIETY PRESENT THE QUALIFIER FOR THE CONNEMARA PONY GELDING ALL IRELAND CHAMPIONSHIP (TOBE SHOWN UNDER SADDLE).
Rules & Conditions: 1. This championship is confined to Reg. Connemara Pony Gelding 5 years old and upwards to be shown under saddle.
3. Exhibitors in both the qualifier and the final must have the CPBS passport ready for inspection prior to entry to the judging ring. Failure to comply with this rule will lead to immediate disqualification. 4. More than one pony may be selected at each qualifying show provided the judges and the ISA agree the standard is high enough, but not more than three. 5. Ponies qualified for the final are not eligible to enter any other class at Claremorris Show.

CLASS 42: OPEN LEAD REIN CLASS FOR PONY MARE OR GELDING NOT EXCEEDING 123cms Rider under 7 years on the 01/01/09 CLASS 43: REGISTERED CONNEMARA GELDING 2 YEARS OLD AND OVER, SHOWN IN HAND. CLASS: 44: YOUNG HANDLERS CLASS FOR PONY MARES OR GELDINGS 4 YEARS OLD AND OVER NOT EXCEEDING 148cms, TO BE LEAD BY PERSONS UNDER 17 Handlers must wear the correct dress, including the recommended hat.

Rules for Powers Quarry 2009
1. Qualifying rounds will be held at designated shows. 2. Ponies 4 years old and over are eligible. 3. More than one pony in each qualifying class may be selected to compete in the final provided the judges agree that the standard is high enough. 4. Pony and / or Rider once qualified are not eligible to participate in subsequent qualifiers. This rule may be waived by the Show Committee in exceptional circumstances e.g. sale of a pony or injury of rider prior to final. Permission from the Oughterard Show Committee must be granted prior to any previously qualified pony or rider competing in subsequent qualifying rounds. Failure to do so will result in the entry not being accepted. 5. On completion of judging at qualifiers the successful qualifier will be given all relevant entry documentation by the ring steward. This must be completed and returned, along with the appropriate fee, to the secretary of the Oughterard show within 7 days- this rule will be strictly adhered to. 6. The Connemara Passport of each pony must be presented prior to judging at the qualifying show and on the day of the final. 7. The rider must be under 18 years on 1/01/09. Birth certificates must be produced for inspection at qualifying rounds and on the day of the final. 8. Registered Connemara Stallions must be ridden by rider over14 years and under 18 years on 01/01/2009. 9. Ponies must be registered in a main Connemara Studbook. 10. Jumping over plain rustic fences will be part of the qualifying rounds and final. Qualifying rounds require 2 fences, The Final requires 4 Fences. Jumps should not exceed 90cms in height and 90cms in width. Entrants from shows who do not adhere to this rule will not be accepted. 11. Ponies to be ridden in a Plain Snaffle, Pelham or Double Bridle. Boots are allowed for the jumping phase only, and must be removed prior to the in-hand or Flat Sections. Martingales and Spurs are prohibited. 12. A performance judge must be used at qualifying shows. 13. Ponies will be judged on type, Confirmation, Jumping technique, way of going and action in-hand. 14. Random Dope testing may be carried out on the day of the final. 15. Any objection must be lodged in writing with the show secretary within half an hour following the completion of the competition, together with €50 which is refundable if the objection is upheld. 16. The Oughterard show committee, in consultation with the sponsor reserves the right to amend the rules as may be deemed necessary. Entry Fee to Final: €25.00

Prizes: 1st €1,000, Inscribed Blanket and Cannonball Cup, 2nd €400, 3rd €300, 4th, 5th & 6th @ €100. All other finalists will receive €50 and a rosette on appearance in the final. Trophy to be presented to the breeder of the winning pony.

The competition will be judged in three phases giving total maximum points of 100:
Marking: Phase 1—In HandConfirmation 0-6 Type 0-6 Movement 0-8
Phase 2 – FlatPony’s Manners and Performance 0-10Riders ability 0-10 Overall Impression 0-10
Phase 3 – Jumping4 fences (one is a double) marked 0-10 for each fence.
Penalties 1st Refusal -5 2nd Refusal -10 3rd Refusal Elimination Each Fence Knocked -5
In the event of a tie at the conclusion of judging the combination awarded the highest points in Phase 3 will be deemed the winner. If there is a tie, the combination with the highest points in Phase 2 will be deemed the winner.

All ponies must be presented for Passport Inspection at approximately 12.30pm. Failure to do so will result in disqualification from the Final. Announcements will be made as to where and when the inspections will take place. Riders birth certificates must also be available for inspection.
