OUGHTERARD SHOW SOCIETY REGULATIONS.
1. All exhibits must be bona fida property of exhibitor and in the Home Craft classes, must have been made by the exhibitor and not previously exhibited at the Oughterard Show. In the Produce Classes, exhibits must have been produced in the exhibitor’s Farm or Garden. 2. Competitors are responsible if entered in classes which clash. 3. Exhibitors must satisfy themselves that their exhibits are in correct classes and bear correct number before judging commences. 4. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to be on time for the judging of their class. 5. The Judges are empowered to withhold Prizes in Classes in which there is not sufficient competition or merit. 6. The Judges decisions as to the merit in all Classes shall be final. Any objections should be lodged in writing with the secretary within 30 minutes following the completion of the competition, with a fee of €50, which will be returned if the objection is upheld. €50 per person per objection. 7. The Judges shall have the power to have Prize-winning animals examined by a V.S., whose certificates shall be limited to the statement “Sound” or “Unsound”. Soundness being a necessary qualification in every case. The Veterinary examination shall be precisely such as the animal would be submitted for an intending purchaser. 8. The Committee will not be responsible for any loss or accident which may occur to exhibits, exhibitors or to the general public. 9. All Horse and Ponies and especially Foals must be shown in headstall, cavesons and / or to be led in bridle only. All cattle in headstalls. 10. In the interest of safety all animals must be led by competent adults. 11. No person shall be allowed to enter the Judging Ring in any Class except the Stewards of that Class and those in charge of the animals. No Steward shall officiate in any class in which he is an exhibitor, or wear his/her Stewards Badge while showing such exhibit. Any exhibitor interfering with the Judging will be disqualified. 12. Show Grounds open at 8.30 a.m. Exhibits must be on show in the Community Centre before 11.00 a.m. Exhibits must not be removed before 5.00 p.m. without written permission from the Show Secretary. 13. The person to whom a Cup is awarded shall give security to the committee that the Cup shall be delivered to the Secretary at least 14 days previous to succeeding show, and in the same condition as it was received. 14. All entries must be lodged with the Entries Secretary, by Thursday 21st August, 2008. 15. Winners of Confined Section may enter in Open Sections. 16. Market Gardeners shall not be eligible for Garden Produce Classes. 17. Factories shall not be eligible for Home Crafts Section. 18. Bakeries shall not be eligible for Cookery Classes. 19. No money will be returned on entries not exhibited. 20. No animal or exhibitor should enter the ring wearing a rosette. 21. 5% will be deducted from Prize money in the Cattle, Pony, Horse, and Sheep section for the I.S.A. Championship fund. 22. Shall any matter arise not provided for in the preview of these rules and regulations the same shall be referred to the Executive Committee whose decision shall be final from which there is no appeal. 23. Prize money in the Horse section will be held back until the Champion Horse of the Show is held in the hope of encouraging 1st Prize winners to participate in the Champion Horse of the Show. 24. Classes with two entrants or less will be cancelled. The entry fee will be returned. Cattle classes are exempt from this rule.

GENERAL RULES FOR ISA CHAMPIONSHIPS 2008.
Shows wishing to participate in the 2008 Championships and be eligible to hold qualifiers, must have collected the Championship Fund Levy (currently 5%) from Horse, Pony, Cattle & Sheep class prize money for the year 2007 and forwarded the amount so collected, in full to the Irish Shows Association Head Office within the stipulated period of not more than 30 days from the date of their show. Alternative methods of meeting this obligation are not acceptable.
Any show or competitor in breach of the Rules set out below will be disqualified from participating or competing in these championships.
These General Rules and those relating to individual championships (where applicable) should be published in the show schedule and catalogue of the participating shows and must be strictly observed.
B. QUALIFYING ROUNDS (QUALIFIERS)
Qualifying rounds will take place at eligible shows selected by the Irish Shows Association.
C. RESPONSIBILITY OF SHOWS HOLDING QUALIFYING ROUNDS
Selected shows should hold a separate class for each qualifier from which the highest placed animals will qualify.
NB. Shows must return results card marked “No Qualifier” for any or all of the events for which no animal (or exhibit) has been selected. D. RESPONSIBILITY OF EXHIBITORS

NOTICES OF INTEREST TO CHAMPIONSHIP PARTICIPANTS
IRISH LAW (EU DIRECTIVE)
Under Irish Law all horses moving from one location to another must be accompanied by their passports. It is in your own interest to ensure that this is the case. Failure to do so is an offence under Irish Law and is liable on summary conviction to result in a fine up to €3,000. All passports must be registered with the name of the current owner.
Embryo Transfer: Where a foal is produced by this method the dams passport must bear a declaration dated, stamped and signed by the stallion owner (or accredited practitioner where AI is involved) stating the date on which the dam was last covered (or inseminated) and the name of the covering stallion.
The owners of Champions and Reserve Champions are invited to submit the animals’ passports to the I.S.A. head office where the placing will be endorsed and officially stamped with the seal of the Irish Shows Association as a permanent record.
It is in the interest of shows hosting championship finals that photographs and results are forwarded to the Irish Farmers Journal immediately following judging. |
